The atom is one of the most difficult things to draw in all of science. Atoms have a center, or nucleus that is made up of protons, positively charged particles, and neutrons, particles that have no charge. Each atom also has up to several energy levels with electrons in each one. The atom is the building block of all matter.
Many diagrams have been devised to help explain the atom. As time goes on and new information is acquired, each diagram becomes less valuable to the community of science. This model of the atom is mostly incorrect. In the nucleus, it is difficult to tell if both the neutrons and the protons are present. Its very important to show that the nucleus is made up of two different parts. It is also essential to show the totals of both the protons and neutrons. The nucleus should be shown as having the most mass. The energy levels are also not correct. The electrons should be grouped onto energy levels in more than groups of one.
