Arthur Miller was born in to a Jewish family on the 17th
October 1915 in New York. Arthur Millers grandparents
originally came from Poland and then immigrated to
America. When the family business failed they moved to
Brooklyn where ' a view from the bridge' is set. A view from
a bridge is a good name because it is the position on which
alfieri is just looking in and no getting to involved in the
Play. It was in Brooklyn where Arthur Miller worked in a
factory to raise
funds for his university fees. In 1938 Arthur Miller
graduated and become a journalist between working as a
journalist and trying to make a name as a writer he worked
in Brooklyn shipyards for two years, where he befriended
Italians. The story inspired 'A View From A Bridge' which
was written in 1955, it was originally a one act play but
miller re-worked the play so it was finally a two act play the
following year. The play is set up in red hook, Brooklyn a
very poor area described by Alfieri as the slum that faces
the bay on the seaward side of Bro......
