Anxiousness comes in many different kinds and a mother being worried for the well being of her children is one of these kinds. Plays such as Riders to the Sea by John Millington Synge and Juno and the Paycock by Sean O’Casey have better shown us the different forms of worry mothers have for the sake of their children. These two plays have two main characters as mothers and both are concerned for their children wellbeing, each mother is concerned about a different thing but the fact they are worried for their children makes them have a lot in common. To better examine this, one should look at the politics and the history behind both plays. Riders to the Sea is a play written by J.M Synge. It was first preformed in 1904 at Dublin by the Irish National Theater Society. It is a one-act play that is set in the Aran Islands where Synge himself stayed their for a part of his life.
