INTRODUCTION:
A French chemist, Fredrich Wohler, discovered Beryllium (pronounced beh- RIL I em) in 1797. Beryllium is the second group of the periodic table. The second group is also known as the Alkaline Earth Metals. Some other elements in the alkaline earth metals group are, Magnesium, Calcium, Strontium, Barium, and Radium. Beryllium and its salts are toxic and should be handled with the greatest of care. It definitely should not be eaten. To be safe there should be no attempt to work with Beryllium before becoming familiar with proper safeguards. If Beryllium were ever to get inside ones body it can be measured in urine or blood. Beryllium levels can also be measured in lung and sink samples. The test can detect it at an earlier stage, or can detect disease at more advanced stages or illness as well.
