Anorexia Nervosa is self-starvation. Due to their strict dieting anorexics can be recognized by their haunting, feeble bodies. Those who are ignorant about the impact of the disease believe that anorexics are merely stubborn, vain, appearance-obsessed people who simply do not know when to stop dieting. There may be no definite cause of anorexia but that does not mean it is a choice. Anorexia takes a harsh toll on both a persons body and life. The friends and family of the anorexic often become frustrated because in their eyes all she needs to do is eat to get better. This feeling of helplessness evolves into fear, and anger which may cause the anorexics family and friends to distance themselves from her. They do not understand why this person would abandon everything they have, despite the fact that they are talented, attractive, smart, and from a caring family, for a desire to be noticed for something else, the enormous amount of self-discipline they have and use to restrict their intake.
