My heart was in my Stomach as my friend and I panted down the endless, darkening wood. The overpowering trees were scarred with razor-sharp, piercing claws that sent a ghostly mist shrouding the landscape around us. The smell of rotting, murky wood, like forlorn mushrooms in the wild, blood-thirsty thorns spiraling down their dead, trampled spine. The violent shadows crushed us in their tormenting palms. We could sense the presence of stale, dry air that compelled its way down our throats. Our lips were parched. The cold shiver was engraved in the wood. The sky suddenly switched from an Inky backdrop to a haunting jet-black. Suddenly, we glimpsed at something strange hovering in the distance. Could it be them? I queried.
We clambered up the jagged tree, blizzard cold, hard blood gushing recklessly down my body.
