In our ever changing world there are many views of the structure of family. Two of the types of family structure are the nuclear family that includes a mother, a father, and their children and the extended family that consists of two or more adult generations of the same family whose members share economic resources and share a common household.
When discussing the structure of family there are many factors to take into consideration. Some of these factors include marriage and divorce, children or no children, and lifestyle variations. In American society today lifestyle variations appear to be the one of the most important factors. These lifestyle variations encapsulate a wide variety of American views that define family differently for each individual family.
