The comparison of Hamlet : Ethan Hawke and Hamlet: Kevin Kline is exactly like comparing true history, and someone trying to make history. Michael Almereyda, the director of Hamlet : Ethan Hawke, uses Shakespeares work to create his own art work. He takes history and tries to transform it into something of his own. Hamlet: Kevin Kline directed by Mr. Kline, uses Joseph Papps 1990 theatrical production to create a film in which we see exactly what Shakespeares audience would have seen. Mr. Klines film is true to the written text of Shakespeare, even if Mr. Almereyda used Elizabethan in his film, the purity of Shakespeare is not there. Some believe you dont always have to follow the text word for word to show the true work, and Almereyda truly does prove to the world that the eye is behind the language. Everyone has their own interpretations, ones not to say a piece of art is wrong, one can only choose which one they prefer.
