Equipment: 25ml measuring cylinder medium conical flask 10ml hydrochloric acid magnesium ribbon beaker stopwatch method 1. measure 10mls of hydrochloric acid and pour in to the 25ml measuring cylinder. 2. Pour the 10mls of hydrochloric acid into the medium conical flask. 3. Measure the amount of magnesium that you are going to start the experiment with. 4. Add the magnesium ribbon to the conical flask containing the acid. 5. Time it until a full reaction has occurred. 6. Collect results in a table and repeat the experiment a couple of times for accuracy. 7. Write up the experiment and draw a graph, comment if there are any anomalous results. Theory When you change a factor in the experiment the rate of the reaction can change. One thing that could have affected the time for the reaction to is that the metal used was magnesium.
