Obesity Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
There has been a major misconception between overweight people, and obese people.
One thing true about them, they are both larger than what we expect out of a normal sized
person. Being overweight means having some extra pounds sagging around that are not needed.
Overweight people can shrink back down to normal size a lot quicker than someone who is
obese. An obese person is someone who is extremely overweight, and is a risks for health
problems, such as cancer. They have a much longer quest to come down to average weight. To
determine the difference between the two, a doctor must run a test on the person to see what they
can be labeled as. The test is called body mass index (BMI). They measure the persons height
and weight, and than use these numbers in order to calculate the BMI.(Homeier) A large part of
our country is made up from people overweight and obese, parents need to get a hold of their
children and show them how bad this can make their future lives. This needs to be stopped now
before it is too late.
