Million Dollar Baby
While watching Million Dollar Baby, I debated back and forth with myself about whether Maggie was the hero or Frankie was. They both follow Campbells Heros Journey, but in my opinion I believe that the true hero of this story is Maggie. It is true that he trained her but she changed him. She made him a totally different man, a caring man. Without Maggie, Frankie would still be the same bitter man that we witnessed at the beginning of the movie.
Call to Adventure
Ever since we first see Maggie, she is determined to become a boxer. She has already been working at it for three years and now she is seeking Frankies help. Even after Frankie says that he will not train her, she still does not give up and she is at the gym everyday hoping that he will change his mind. Scrap begins to give her a few pointers and she listens very gratefully because she wants to become a champion.
