In the novel Fifth Business, Dunstable Ramsay is captivated by Mary Dempster. He is constantly being influenced and affected by her and other people throughout his life. With Mrs. Dempster it started at a young age, and he began to feel guilty and responsible for her. In experiencing this he becomes fascinated by her, and she becomes crucial in Dunstables psychological landscape. He feels it is his duty to care for her and be her friend because he feels guilty for the state she is in. Dunstable connects with Mrs. Dempster in a way unlike he has with anyone else, and he loves her. In a mode that was far too demanding for my age or experience, I loved her.
