In simpler terms, leadership is the ability to influence others, and to obtain followers. The leader I chose to interview is a Director of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), telemetry unit, and monitor techs. This leader has held many prominent positions in her 32 years of nursing practice, and this has contributed greatly to her knowledge of leadership. Terry has spent over 20 years managing over 100 staff members in various capacities. This paper will explore Terrys background, her personal development as a leader, her present role as a Director, and the many roads she has traveled with lessons learned to become the leader she is today.
