Although we talk and hear about it more and more since 1970s there is still a controversy on the concept of globalization. Some academicians approach to the concept with skepticism. Some say it is nothing more than a myth whereas others formulate clear-cut definitions for the term. Here I will focus on a number of articles that approach the discussion of globalization from opposite points of view.
George Modelski defines globalization as the process by which a number of historical world societies were brought together into one global system.(49) He argues that there always has been a trend of increasing interaction between societies but that they remained indirect, nonpolitical and not global for a long period. It is said that globalization is not an organized expansion of only one power, namely Europe. No monopolization, no one empire emerged out of the process.
