How Does Act 2.1 Show us a Turning Point in the Relationship of Beatrice and Benedick? From ¡§I had rather hear my dog bark at a crow than a man swear he loves me¡¨ to ¡§I may sit in a corner and cry heigh-ho for a husband¡¨, From ¡§truly, I love none¡¨ to ¡§I cannot endure my lady tongue¡¨, Beatrice and Benedick¡¦s attitudes to love change dramatically from Act 1.1 to Act 2.1. This doubtlessly makes Act 2.1 a turning point in the relationship of Beatrice and Benedick. In Act 1.1, we can tell by Benedick¡¦s speech and behaviour that he is witty. He answers to everything that Beatrice says: calling her ¡§lady disdain¡¨, ¡§parrot teacher¡¨, implies that she is a scratching shrew, etc. All of which suggest that Beatrice is not the ideal woman to be with. But he also tries to be cautious about what he says, in order to avoid being caught by Beatrice¡¦s endless comebacks ¡V ¡§scratching could not make it worse, an ¡¥twere such a face as yours were¡¨ meaning that he is ugly, and ¡§a bird of my tongue is better than a beast of yours¡¨, meaning......
