The IASB framework for the preparation and presentation of financial statements is a conceptual accounting framework that sets out the concepts that underlie the preparation and presentation of financial statements for external users. It was set in 1989 by the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC) and adopted by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) in April, 2001. Its main purpose is to assist the IASB in the review, development, interpretation, application and harmonization of International Accounting Standards (IAS).
