It is a widely known fact that throughout the world, fashions and trends have a tendency to come and go with the times. This statement holds true for the evolution of American fashion. In the seventeenth and early eighteenth century, fashion was at first very plain and drab, but then evolved into flashier, trendier ways of dress including powdered wigs, and brightly colored outfits. Many changes took place in American fashion during the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, due to the American Revolution and the Civil War. The changes in the status of the country caused America take responsibility for the production of its own clothes, and eventually led to Americas independent fashion industry.
During the late 1700s, womens fashion was very elegant, and sophisticated. Accessories were very important, and quite necessary to be considered a fashionable women in that time period.
