They are marked by deliberate deceptiveness especially by pretending one set of feelings and acting under the influence of another. They do not care what they have to say or do in order to accomplish their goals. The quote “hateful to me as the gates of Hades is that man who hides one thing in his heart and speaks another” (Homer) refers to the actions of most of the characters and it furnishes an insight into one of the main themes in the play Julius Caesar. The character whom best portrays this quote is Mark Antony. Mark Antony uses his clever language to manipulate people to his favor. He acted deceivingly, enviously, and selfishly in his various dealings during the period after Caesar's death. His impulsive, improvisatory nature serves him perfectly. At first he persuades the conspirators that he is on their side, thus gaining their leniency. He......
