For some, Ethan Frome may be hard to understand because it is at a high level of reading in an older time with terms not found in many current dictionaries. Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton is a book on the life of a struggling man. This book tells Ethan Frome’s story and the many tragic events of Ethan’s existence. Some believe the root of Ethan’s troubles is his wife, Zenobia, while others believe his troubles are the fault of the notorious cat, but the true cores of Ethan’s problems are the cold, lonely winters of and the desolation of the tiny town of Starkfield. During Chapter 4, Ethan begins to notice that his wife, Zenobia, is unhealthy.
