The Company Formed in 1985, Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ: SBUX) is the leading retailer of fresh brewed coffee and branded merchandise. It is a well-managed, aggressive, international company that has achieved strong growth since its inception. Its brands include Tazo tea and Frappuccino. The company also owns and franchises the Seattle's Best Coffee and Torrefazione Italia chains in the U.S. Through its retail stores, the company roasts and sells whole bean coffee along with a variety of drinks and other edible confections. Coffee-related accessories and equipment and a line of compact discs are also sold at its stores. Each Starbucks store varies its product mix depending upon the size of the store and its location. Newly employed initiatives at some stores include lunches and entertainment programs. SBUX uses alternative retail channels to sell coffee, coffee-related drinks, teas and deserts.
