1984 Individuals take for granted, the fact that one has the gift of freedom. The freedom to think as one pleases, work as one pleases, live as one pleases, and not be controlled by a ruling totalitarian. In this book, we learn about the ironic endeavors of one individual’s events in life; concerning thought, government, and an absolute ruler. In the novel 1984, the slogans of the Party are one of the most ironic aspects of the entire book. Each statement contained in the slogans is a contradiction of itself. “War is Peace Freedom is Slavery Ignorance is Strength”. (27) In a real world, war is not peace; it is an active hostility between two or more nations or parties. War, is also very dangerous and hurtful. Contention is the complete opposite of peace. Freedom is not slavery. Freedom is the power to determine action with out constraint. Slavery is being bound in servitude of some sort. Ignorance is a condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed. An individual can not possess strength with ignorance. The possession of strength comes with being knowledgeable. Th......
