Say youre 13 years old. You walk into a friends house only to see a huge party in full swing, many people drunk. Suddenly, someone comes up to you and offers you a beer. You look around you and think to yourself, Well, if all my friends are doing it, why shouldnt I? Its just one drink. So you decide to take it and drink it. But it is rarely just one drink. Fifty percent of teens have had a drink by the time they reach the eighth grade, and about 30 percent of these people engage in binge drinking by the twelfth grade having at the very least five or more drinks at one time. The same can be said about drugs. You think that if your friends do it, then its okay if you do it too. The National Survey on Drug Use and Health show us that over two million teens in America are using drugs, marijuana being the most common of them. Today, about 1.1 million people are seeking treatment for drug abuse, 100,000 of them being teens.
