Philosophers are the most influential people on the planet. Before science was ever heard of, there were philosophers. Some of the most famous are Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. They were the first breed of their kind, free-thinkers. In a society that was built on a foundation of religion, these philosophers examined their own lives. This was dangerous to the Athenian society because it forced people to question their society, as well as religion. The person that pioneered this idea was ultimately executed. His name was Socrates, and even today, is still the first free-thinker.
In an Athenian society people would be given jobs, and they would become experts at that one craft. Some people would make wheels, grow crops, and others would take the important role of a soldier. Socrates had a day job, and he had also been a soldier. Socrates did not like his job, so he did what anybody would, he quit.
