The Catholic Church during Medieval times was a very important part of peoples lives. Mostly mass consisted of very sacred and secular music. Mass was consisted of, The Introit, the Kyrie, the Gloria, the Gradual, the Credo, the Offertory, the Sanctus and Benedictus, the Agnos Dei, and the Communion (Wikipedia). This is mostly sacred music. They also had entertainment. This is called secular. Secular is mostly entertainment, or music based on dancing music, etc. They mostly used an organ for most of these musical pieces. This pertains to the actual mass that the Catholic Church presents.
The basic happenings at a Catholic Mass are celebrations, generally happening in the monasteries throughout the whole day. This consists of prayers, psalms, canticles or New Testament passages, antiphons, responses, hymns and readings. The general hours of the day are Matins (before daybreak), Lauds (sunrise), Prime, Terce, Sext, Nones (respectively at Six am, Nine am, Twelve pm and Three pm), Vespers (sunset), Compline (after Vespers).
