Petersen, Cameron Period 4 History January 22, 2007 Safavid and Ottoman Empires During the foundation of the Islamic Empires in the late 1200s, the Ottoman and Mughal civilizations ruled the Middle East. Although both empires didn’t always go about things in the same manner, their military strength helped them rise into a strong powerful state, and they were able to religiously, socially and economically impact the vast lands they conquered. But in the end their military power was unable to overcome their setbacks in the world of technology as other civilizations, such as the Europeans and Chinese, past them up. In 1289 the rise of a civilization, known as the Ottomans marked the beginning of the Islamic civilizations as great leaders such as Mehmed and Suleyman aided to the rise and maintenance of their empire. Led by a Mehmed the Conqueror, the ghazi, or Muslim religious warriors organized a formidable military machine that went on to capture Constantinople in 1453.
