Cultural Regions of Canada Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The cultural regions of Canada are diverse. These regions have similarities of language, occupation, religion, ethnic origin, and recreation. Because it encompasses many factors of Canadian life, our group has chosen to focus on the Aboriginal cultures of Canada. Canadian aboriginal people are made up of First Nations people, the Inuit and the Metis.Aboriginal people make up about 3 percent of Canadas inhabitants. About 35% of Canada's First Nations peoples live in urban centers: Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Toronto each have populations of more than 20,000. As well, they live across Canada in every province and territory, with about 45 percent concentrated in the Prairie provinces. Less than half of Canadas Aboriginal people live on reserves set aside for First Nations bands. In the Arctic and sub-Arctic, where the climate has discouraged European settlement, the Inuit are the majority. Aboriginal people divide themselves into nations or tribes, each with a traditional territory, language, and culture. The groupings and homelands have changed over time.
