Controversial response to Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, there has been much controversy surrounding it. The book was banned and much of society had a negative outlook on the type of book it was. Huck Finn's poor grammar and plot structure was evident in 1885. Looking ahead to more recent times the controversy of the book has changed. It has become not over the word use, but just one word, and the racism it provokes. All though the reasons for banning Huck Finn have changed over the years, it should be thought for what it is rather then what it has become. When the book was first published in 1885 it was automatically seen as a disgrace to high society and everything it stood for. Twain's satirical outlook on the Antebellum America was considered lewd and obscene. For that reason they wanted to ban the book. It wasn't fit to be in a library and the grammar alone made it atrocious. They felt that Twain wasn't portraying society correctly, when in fact he was.
