Andrew Andrawis Period: 01 Mr. Wolk The Canterbury Murder Mystery Murder is a serious crime in this country and in the rest of the world. However, some people seem to disagree with certain aspects regarding this point, including some of the characters from the “The Prologue” of Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. These characters take the initiative to commit a terrible crime. While the events of the “The Prologue” take place, and the pilgrims are traveling from London to Canterbury, they find the body of the pardoner, with a dagger in his chest, hanging from the highest branch of a tall tree. From the evidence collected, it is implied that the three people who murdered the pardoner are the Doctor, the Miller, and the Summoner. There are several pieces of evidence that make one infer to the doctor as the killer. “No one alive could talk as well as he [The Doctor] did on points of medicine and of surgery.” (115) The Doctor’s intelligence leads the reader to the hint that he is the murderer, because such a crime can only be done by someone who is brilliant and alert.
