I have a cousin named Zachary and he lives with autism. His parents have known about his disorder since he was a small child. He is fourteen now and is still struggling to live a successful life. They have tried almost everything for him, including sending him to many different schools specialized in autistic children and visiting many different therapists. They most recent thing my aunt and uncle have done for him is that they purchased an autistic assistance dog, a dog that hopefully Zachary will connect with and help him to function at a higher lever for the remainder of his life. The autistic world is developing quickly and with many treatment options including behavior and medical therapy and assistance there will soon be a day that an autistic person will function normally and live a successful life.
