Potential Benefits of Genetic Engineering and Nanotechnology
Genetic engineering is a term used to describe the act of manipulating a specific gene, in which the particular gene is isolated, then manipulated accordingly and, finally replaced within the DNA from which it came or an entirely new DNA structure. When the manipulated gene is placed into a foreign DNA structure, the process is known as Transgenics. Genetic engineering and Transgenics have been around for nearly 25 years providing advancements in science and medicine alike. The first successful genetic engineering was the production of human insulin in 1982 by the USA's FDA. More recently though, genetic engineering has become a crucial component in bettering the human race and life as a whole. Genetic engineers have taken it upon themselves to discover ways of transferring manipulated genes in order to make it possible for humans, plants, and animals to live healthier, more comfortable lives.
