The Seven Year War began on May 15, 1756. The Seven year War also has been referred to as Pomeranian War and the French and Indian War. This long war has many names do to the fact is was fought on several different battle plains and countries. The battle conflicts took place in Europe, North America, and the East Indies. The war involved from the major European powers struggle for control of North America. The want and need of trading rights fueled the fire for all country's governments to start the Seven Year War. Many alliances were broken and formed during the war. Countries constantly looking for the upper hand, and did whatever they could to get the edge on their opponent.
The Battle of Lobositz was the first battle of the Seven Years War which took place in Saxon Germany. The Prussians prevented the Austrians from relieving their besieged Saxon allies. Because the Prussians achieved their objective of preventing the Austrian army from substantially relieving the besieged army of its Saxon allies, the battle is considered to be a Prussian victory.
