Policy is also seen as being a necessary aid in the process of competition to correct any inadequacies or distortions that exist in the market. The key feature of competition policy is the prevention of market dominance, anti-competitive behaviour from monopolies, the preventation of an oligopoly, and merger activities of dominant firms.
