To Kill A Mockingbird: The Psychic Life Cycle of Scout Finch The first stage of the journey that major characters undergo in a novel is wholeness. This journey changes the perspective of the character and enables them to expand their conscience about their surroundings. In the novel To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee, Scout (Jean Louise) Finch endures a drastic change from an innocent child to a wise young lady. Her first stage can be exhibited by portraying her childhood. When Scout first meets Dill, she is arrogant and egotistic like most children. Most importantly, she is innocent and well nurtured by her father, Atticus. The introduction to Boo Radley exemplifies the second stage of the cycle, which is inflation. As more information about this mysterious and eerie character is unveiled to Scout, she becomes interested in him. At the same time though, she is also fearful of this man who has been characterized as “eating cats” and looking in through one’s window when they do not expect it. Boo triggered a child’s curiosity and nothing would diminish it until the trut......
