The two examples I shall be looking at are Scream and Silent Hill, although there is roughly only ten years between them, we can see quite a few changes and similarities in the way in which horror films are made today. These consist of the plot, the characters, the theme and the ideas and icons within. For example; both endings have two final girls, although Silent hill also have a few people alive at the end.
Scream is unusual from many horror films before the 1990s because we find out it has two killers instead of one, although there is only one who is out for revenge where as the other (Stu) thinks it is all fun and games. This brings us to the plot and theme of both films, we can see just by watching the main killers that it is all about revenge. We do not find this out, until both of the films ending. Although our idea of the final girl is masculine and well not blonde, the final woman, Rose, in silent hill is blonde, which is new to the horror genre. However Rose may be blonde but she still has most of the qualities that Sydney, the final girl from scream, has. These consist ......
