The ripple effect from insider trading is said to damage the economy. It is feared it could create another depression, one a great deal worse than the first. The Securities Exchange Commission believes that maintaining insider confidence is essential to the welfare of the stock market (Securities and Exchange Commission). Does insider trading really threaten insider confidence? Insider trading has been blamed for destroying lives, retirements, jobs, firms, corporations, and creating the Great depression. But was insider trading really the culprit? Insider trading wasnt the perpetrator; insider trading was the scapegoat, fraud was the real culprit. Insider trading does not a have an adverse effect on society.
Insider trading started to appear in the early 1920s. The Securities exchange act of 1934 formed the Securities and Exchange Commission.
