American Revolution Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

1776 was a crucial year for American independence where many pamphlets and documents were written and battles were fought. Thomas Paine published the Common Sense on January 10th, which was read by, if not all, the majority of, the Americans. A few months following the writing of the Common Sense, the Second Continental Congress met and wrote the Declaration of Independence, which established America’s independence from England. Later in the year, General George Washington fought the Battle of Trenton, a victory in a streak of losses against the British. These events made the year 1776 essential in aiding the Americans in their struggle toward independence from her mother country, Britain. When Thomas Paine published the Common Sense along with a series of other essays that greatly impacted the American colonies. Within it’s first few months, selling over one hundred thousand copies, the Common Sense helped build support for the idea of independence.
