Who’s Issue? with Native American Indians & early american writers Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In review of three works of early American writers, we can show that the settler’s views on the Native American Indians they encountered seems to be an area of history that at best, construed to fit a point of view that only allows for one side of the story, the white European side, and not the view of the Indians. Just look at the way we word the whole subject itself, “The Indian Issue.” That in itself slants our way of thinking to make us feel Europeans had more of a right of way than the Indians did during these times, therefore, any dealings with them would be an issue that made the Indians out to be naturally wrong on the subject. This view is not upheld by history, or for that matter, common sense, but seems to be almost pervasive in the writings of early American writers. The first story that sets our views on these Indians comes from William Bradford’s “Of Plymouth Plantation, Book I.” This story is almost a diary telling of the voyage to America and how the colonists explored the land.
