Rhetorical Analysis of The Allegory of the Cave Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In his carefully written work of literature, “The Allegory of the Cave,” Plato effectively describes his beliefs of the way in which he views the world. By comparing the world and politics to the workings of the strange cave, we may be able to see how Plato views truth and virtue as the most important aspects of humankind. As Plato’s allegory progresses, our understanding of his logic is broadened and we, as readers, are able to compare it to the different aspects of life, including politics. Plato, as Socrates, cleverly allows us to comprehend how we might feel if we were one of the prisoners of the caves ourselves by using rhetorical devices that enhance the essence of the work. Paragraphs 49-53 of this allegory allows the speaker to develop his argument that the virtue of wisdom must be used sensibly by utilizing rhetorical strategies such as metaphors, symbolism, rhetorical question, asyndeton, and logos. By using the effective literary device of a metaphor, the speaker allows the readers to easily grasp the logic that he uses to support his argument. For example, paragraph......
