Introduction
Kudler Fine Foods is a specialty foods store currently offering gourmet foods, beverages and products designed for gourmet cooking at its three stores located in La Jolla, Del Mar and Encinitas (University of Phoenix, 2006). Kudler Fine Foods has made the decision to expand its customer base by contracting with local organic farmers to provide fresh organic produce in its stores. This paper will examine the affects this decision has on Kudlers business processes, supply chain activities, and quality control systems.
Business Processes
The business processes at Kudler that could be affected by the decision to contract with local organic produce growers are purchasing and inventory management. Although Kudler does not have a purchasing department standard procedures are in place.
