Christopher's Illustrations Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Mark Haddon’s novel, the curious incident of the dog in the night-time, is a book narrated by Christopher Boone, a young 15-year-old autism sufferer. Haddon portrays him as very modest, honest and smart. Nevertheless, due to his inability to understand his peers’ feelings, emotions and facial expressions, Christopher frequently uses many illustrations like geometric designs, mathematical problems, topographic diagrams, and abstract pictures to convey aspects of his world. Since he is endowed with a tremendously graphic imagination, he uses drawings as his principal method of communication to share with readers his complex ideas. These illustrations bring a greater level of interest and realism to the story. However, Christopher’s flowcharts and formulas are not always clear, although they seem logical to him. Since Christopher’s traits are particularly distinctive, he has his own way of life. Hence, we must see the world through his eyes and fill in the blanks in order to conceptualize his story.
