Introduction to Microbiology Microbiology is a unit of Biology, where the minors organisms are studied and analysed, throughout their structure, functions, reproductive cycles and most important its relation to diseases that affects human beings and other living matters .A Microscope is used in aim to assist a scientist during their study of micro organisms, as its small structure make it difficult to be seen with bared eyes. Microbiological studies started in the 17th century by Antonj van Leeuwenhoek, a young Dutch scientist, persuade for his doubtful discovery of micro forms of life. Eventually microbiology was broadly explored as a science, with the work of Louis Pasteur and Koch in the late 19th century, which reveal the extent of the microbiological world, thus acknowledge humans of its hazardous source of diseases (pathogenicity) and also how beneficial for their health it could be (Hamilton 1999). Microorganisms can be classified as pathogenic, which cause diseases and non-pathogenic which doesn’t cause diseases, virulence is the extent of the damage provoked ......
