The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night Time Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time’, Mark Haddon brilliantly explored the life of someone suffering from asperger’s syndrome, through Christopher Boone’s thoughts and actions. Seeing life through his own eyes makes the reader feel sympathetic towards him. The first person narrative makes it easy to understand Christopher’s actions; generating the effect that people are very harsh towards his behaviour. His tales of school added to create some comic relief in the otherwise tense and fraught atmosphere of family dysfunction. The main character, Christopher Boone, narrates the story. He is cared for by his father, as his mother “died”. It begins as Christopher finds his neighbour’s dog dead; with a garden fork stuck in it. Christopher describes his mission to find the murderer, but his father tells him to stop. Christopher secretly continues, but when his father finds his book, he is very angry and hides it from him. When his father is out, Christopher looks for his book, eventually finding it in a box in his father’s cupboard along with many unopen......
