The war to end all wars is inaccurately named; its more like the war that started most of the conflicts of the 20th century. The decisions made after the war affected the remaining years of the twentieth century and the present. The excessive demands of Treaty of Versailles, the partition of the Ottoman Empire, and the Balfour Declaration all led to the horrid, dreadful events such as the rise of Hitler (whom eventually started the Second World War and the Holocaust) and the never-ending conflict in the Middle East were faced after the war to end all wars.
After the war ended, the Treaty of Versailles demanded Germany to pay reparations which was set at $32 billion and to hold Germany responsible for starting the war, taking all the blame for starting the war (Article 231, the War Guilt Clause). The flaws of the treaty put a heavy burden upon Germany, which paved the way to the rise of the Nazi Party lead by Adolf Hitler.
