Is political paranoia about medicinal marijuana causing cancer, HIV positive, AIDS or glaucoma patients to have to go through even more pain? Would legalizing medicinal marijuana for seriously ill patients contribute to increased drug abuse among teens? These are both legitimate questions, and are part of the ongoing debate between the opposing sides of this argument. Medicinal Marijuana has been legalized in eleven states, and last election day it was almost legalized in South Dakota with 48% of votes.
South Dakotas Initiative Four would legalize medicinal marijuana for patients with debilitating medical conditions. These include cancer, glaucoma, HIV, AIDS, or a chronic, debilitating condition that produces cachexia, wasting syndrome, severe or chronic pain, severe nausea, seizures, including epileptic seizures, severe or persistent muscle spasms, including spasms caused by spinal injury, multiple sclerosis, Crohns disease or fibromyalgia or any other medical condition approved by the Department of Health.
