“Letter to My Mother”, by Barbra Kingsolver is a letter about the evolution of the relationship between mother and daughter. Many feelings and emotions encompass the relationship between parent and their child, Kingsolver shows these emotions in a confessional type of letter. There are feelings that the author has for her mother that she needs her to know about. The author has wrote this letter as a mother herself, so she feels that she can now relate to her mother and share these memories with her. The author’s relationship changes throughout the letter, it almost cycles in a way, but no matter what there is a deep love for her mother that she wanted her mother to truly comprehend. Kingsolver has a fairly normal relationship with her mother as a child. Her mother is her world and needs her in her life on a constant basis.
