Graham Scott Mrs. Jones APLAC 6th January 27th, 2007 Justice is Blind is a Fallacy When the average American thinks of justice, he or she immediately pictures equality. Or sometimes they conjure up the image of Lady Themis, the goddess of justice and equality, who is blindfolded and is depicted carrying a scale in one hand and the sword in the other. The blindfold is an interesting part of this world-renowned statue. It is shown, to exhibit that justice is not subject to influence. That above all, what is right will come out in the end. But throughout time, Lady Justice has been caught putting the scales down and sticking her hand out palm up; peeking out from her blindfold. Harper Lee’s inspirational novel To Kill a Mockingbird, the eye-opening movie Inherit the Wind, and the shocking Biography of Roe vs. Wade all show how the statement Justice is Blind is nothing more than a fallacy.
