I chose to read the book Grand Canyon National Park because I have always had an interest in the formation of the Grand Canyon. I have always wondered how much time it takes for a mountain to form, and what things are involved in this process. I have also wondered how mountains can attain such great heights. All this time I was too lazy, or I should say intimidated, to grab a book and just read it on my own because I thought that I would be unable to understand the scientific terminology used in such books.
The Earth Science class has given me a basic understanding of mountains, types of rocks, creation of earthquakes, plate tectonics, faults, basalt, and sill, etc., which made me feel like I am now ready to go into deep science. While reading this book I have seen a lot of terminologies like sedimentary rocks, chemical weathering, sandstone, limestone, shale and many others, which we have learned about in class.
