Is the No Child Left Behind Act Effective?
I graduated from the Dagon high school in Burma, which is located in Southeast Asia. When I was in high school, I had to take six subjects -Burmese, English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology because I am a science major. I had to memorize all of my subjects except math that and take a final exam at the end of the tenth grade, senior year. According to the Burmese education system, if a student fails one of the six subjects in the final exam, he or she has to take the whole final exam of all subjects again the next year. If a student fails three times, he or she will be kicked out of school. In America, there is a new education law, No Child Left Behind Act. The system of the No Child Left Behind is strict because all students have to be at a proficient level in reading, math, and science by 2014. However, the Burmese education system is stricter than the system of the No Child Left Behind Act.
