Jane Eyre written by charlotte Bronte in 1848, is one of those classic-thrilling novels that manage to hold the readers interest from the first time they open the cover, to when they recommend it to a friend. The first few chapters of a book are the deciding pages that determine whether people wish to read on or alternately lay it down. Charlotte Bronte understood and appreciated the importance of this fact and chose to use extensive amounts of sympathy to hold attention. The immediate empathy we feel for the character Jane Eyre is created through clever language selection, imagery in the surroundings, gothic references and the personalities of the other characters. Charlotte Bronte's portrayal of the character Jane Eyre may be semi-autobiographical. If this is true it would seems that after the death of her mother and two elder siblings, charlotte found it hard as a child to display and receive the love that she felt she deserved.
