Rosa Parks Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The laws against segregation in the South were changed in the early 1960s and progress was made but some white people’s hearts have not. These are the thoughts of Rosa Parks, a catalyst of the civil rights movement. There is a history behind Rosa Parks well before the Montgomery Bus Boycott that brought her into history. She had a strong belief that Blacks were treated unfairly from a young age and was taught to be proud of whom she was, and this was her leading light throughout her life. There are myths in the Montgomery Bus Boycott story, about why Rosa refused to give her seat up, and that the whole thing was a plan but these are false statements that were made on that fateful day, December 1, 1955. Rosa’s background plays a large role in why she refused to give up her seat on the bus that afternoon, and her involvement in NAACP also contributes to the refusal. It was not because she was told to by anyone, it was her past experiences that pushed her into action against segregation.
